Casaboa estate, located in Runa, 40 Km to the west of Lisboa, has been owned by three generations of the Ferreira dos Santos family, and dedicated to the production and bottling of wine.
Dedication and enthusiasm of a young and multifarious team, responsible for management, marketing, viticulture and oenology have been a strong contribute to make Casaboa wines renowned for their quality, innovation and class, both nationally and internationally.
Originally from the 18th century, Casaboa estate, with an area of 120 hectares, was purchased in 1958 by João Ferreira dos Santos, a Mozambique entrepreneur.
His free time was usually spent on the quiet surroundings of the estate, between relaxing walks on the beautiful gardens and the winery business that he followed with pleasure
Passion and will were carried on by the next generations that instilled a new stimulus to the business in order to face modern times.
Casaboa estate uses its own grapes on the winemaking process, coming from 50 hectares of Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet, Tinta Roriz, Merlot, Alvarinho and Arinto grapes.
Following the best agricultural practices that lead to the continuous improvement of products and processes, Casaboa acts in perfect harmony with nature, respecting production cycles through an efficient resources management.
Situated on Lisbon wine region, the vine occupies a clay and calcareous soil from basaltic origin, influenced by atlantic climate.
Due to its productive capacity combined with the ambition of the owners, Casaboa estate looks for reaching abroad the same quality as it has in Portugal, “opening” new markets in order to give a bigger destiny to its exportation.
Only 40km away from Lisbon we are surprised by different points of attraction that Torres Vedras county has to offer: a vineyard landscape followed by the atlantic ocean, the long beaches of unique beauty, Arabic castles and medieval churches, ancient fortifications and a delicious gastronomy.
That’s precisely on this context that great wines are born, only possible by the will of a people with two hands for working and a heart to enjoy life.
West region it’s one of the most extensive winery areas in the country, where you can find full bodied red wines, aromatic and with appreciated alcohol volume as well as fruited and light white wines.
