Quinta da Casaboa, true to its positioning - positively unexpected wines - decided to invest on a new experience, in order to surprise the consumer.
In October 2021 Casaboa launched the first wine from Lisbon aged in the sea, and named it Anfíbio. This project starts from the passion that Pedro has for the sea and Joana, his wife, for the world of wine.
In 2019 the couple made the first tests, with different blends of red, at different depths and stages. Subsequently, they gathered a panel of tasters, including the winemaker, the producer, oenophiles and representatives of the consumer from which they elected the blend that presented the most surprising results. In November 2020 they immersed 250 bottles and in the summer of 2021 they were removed from the sea, where they remained 8 months at 10 meters deep on our Atlantic coast.
It was a limited edition, harvest 2017, made from Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Alicante Bouschet, which before reaching the sea aged 4 months in barrels, on dry land. The appearance of the bottles has been entirely designed by nature, with clear evidence of the sea effects, making sure that there are no two bottles alike.
