🐂 The group gathers, the forcado enters the arena, faces the audience and makes a dedication. He puts on his hat and moves forward, confident. He waits for the bull to charge.

🎭 The room darkens, actors and actresses are ready, the theatre is full. The director’s waiting time is over. The curtain rises. The moment is now.
------------
😷 Gloves, masks, and gowns are adjusted. The heart monitor is switched on. Quick glances and brief words are exchanged. The expectant mother is admitted. Everything is set to welcome a new life.
Waiting time can be immense. Many months of preparation for a “moment” that passes in the blink of an eye.
🍇 It is no different with wine.
We are one month away, after 11 months of work. Expectation builds; each day feels suspended in the air, as if the vineyard itself were holding its breath. August is a tricky month — too much sun can scorch, too much rain can spoil.
😬 There is an almost childlike nervousness, like stepping onto a stage, watching a bull enter the arena, or hearing a baby’s first cry. We spend more time looking at the sky than at the clock. Every weather forecast is analysed like a prophecy. We sleep little and think too much.
💓 This is the month when the heart beats in rhythm with the ripening grapes. It is the final stretch, where patience is as important as work. In essence, August is a month made of condensed emotions: anxiety, fear, hope, and pride. Until then, we live in this intense anticipation — the final chapter before the great moment.
👉 But it is all worth it, because wine holds a central place in Portuguese culture, a symbol of identity and tradition, and a true social bond. Portuguese wine is also an ambassador to the world, carrying the country’s quality and authenticity. Its economic importance is undeniable. Wine in Portugal is a living heritage.
🍷 May the waiting time bring good fruit.
We wish all producers a successful harvest.
